People may be sitting a little closer together at Peel Hunt in future. The UK mid-market investment bank is understood to be shifting people around within its London office at 100 Liverpool Street.

Peel Hunt declined to comment for this article. It’s understood that staff there are being asked to move around within the office space as part of prudent cost management, and that the possibility of subletting the resulting vacant areas has not been discounted.
Peel Hunt moved into its new office in 2021. The building is described as a “radical redevelopment of a 1980s scheme” for anyone interested in moving in. In June, Peel Hunt began asking its front office staff to work in the office four days a week and its support staff to come in three days a week.
The office squeeze comes amidst harsh times for London’s equity capital markets bankers. Staff have been cut and bonuses pruned. Andew Chapman, Peel Hunt’s chair of investment banking retired after 15 years yesterday.
In an announcement today, Peel Hunt said it’s optimistic about the second of this year and that revenues were up 37% in the six months to September thanks to an increase in M&A.
