Eugene Gaysinskiy joined Macquarie Group in New York today to head up the Australian bank’s quantitative investment strategies structuring team in the Americas.

A 17-year veteran of British bank Barclays in New York, Gaysinskiy joined the firm’s structuring team from Lehman Brothers back in 2008, as many did. He was an analyst for just four months before Lehman’s collapse. Gaysinskiy spent the ensuing 17 years at Barclays, and was made a managing director at the firm in just 2023.

There’s nothing wrong with going to Macquarie, of course. The ex-Lehman Barclays bankers end up at UBS generally, but other people go to Macquarie, and they even join the QIS team: for example, Nisha Urs, who joined the bank in February as an MD in the cross asset sales QID. Much like Gaysinskiy, she has a background in commodities.
