Happy Thanksgiving 2025! – Retire by 40
SHARE

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Wow, 2025 has been a tumultuous year. Life has been pretty crazy at the RB40 household as well. RB40Jr started high school, Mrs. RB40 retired, the Retire by 40 blog circling the drain, aging parents dealing with health problems, kitchen remodeling, increasing cost of living, and more. Life can be overwhelming sometimes, but we all have to soldier on. Fortunately, it isn’t all doom and gloom. I have a lot to be thankful for as well.

Thankful life

Health – Mrs. RB40 and I are in our early 50s. We have some health issues, but we’re relatively healthy. We still go hiking and enjoy the outdoors. Unfortunately, our parents are getting older, and we are seeing how declining health erodes their quality of life. That’s why we need to enjoy life to the fullest while we still can.

RB40Jr is a good kid – RB40Jr started high school, and he is adjusting very well. He joined the debate team, the Ultimate Frisbee team, and the racquetball team. He is getting along with everyone, and he is doing well academically. It’s pretty amazing to see our son growing up. I am very thankful he is not getting into any big trouble.

Net worth hits an all-time high – The economy has been extra chaotic this year, but I can’t complain because our net worth is at an all-time high. It’s crazy to be doing this well when so many people are struggling. Life seems more difficult for working people than ever. This is why everyone needs to start investing when they’re young.

All in all, life is good. I have a duck thawing in the fridge with a bottle of prosecco next to it. Mrs. RB40 will figure out the sides. We’ll cook a little feast to celebrate this crazy year. I hope you are having a good week as well. Happy Thanksgiving!
